ENERGY / WORK / POWER

a family was biking around their
town. the daughter Ann goes down a 5 meter
hill starting from rest. her mass is 50 kg.
her speed and potential energy at position A :
PE = mgh
PE = (50)(9.8)(5)
~ PE = 2450 J ~
~speed = 0 m/s ~
her velocity and potential energy at position B :
PE = mgh
PE = (50)(9.8)(3)
~ PE = 1470 J ~
KE = ½ mv²
225 = ½ (50)v²
225 = (25)v²
9 = v²
~ v = 3 m/s ~
her velocity and kinetic energy at position C :
KEi + PEi = KEf + PEf
0 + 2450 = KE + 0
~ KE = 2450 J ~
KE = ½ mv²
2450 = ½ (50)v²
2450 = (25)v²
490 = v²
~ v = 22.14 m/s ~

CIRCULAR MOTION / CENTRIPETAL FORCE
the family tries to race eachother.
the mass of Lani's bike is 6 kg and she goes 14 m/s.
the radius of her bike wheel is 0.311 m.
the C, T, f, and Fc
C = πr²
C = π(0.311)²
~ C = 0.304 meters ~
V = C/T
14 = 0.304 / T
14T = 0.304
T = 0.02 seconds
F = 1 / 0.02
~ F = 50 ~
Fc = mv² / r
Fc = (6)(14)² / 0.311
~ Fc = 3781.35 N ~

MOMENTUM / IMPULSE
Ann and Lani decide to take
a different path and separate
from the rest of her family. their
bikes are both 6 kg
their momentum if they move at 3.5 m/s
P = mv
P = (60)(3.5)
~ P = 210 kgm/s ~

FORCE
Ann's excerts a 12 N force on to her bicycle.
She accelerates at 2 m/s²
the mass on her bike
f = ma
12 = m(2)
~ m = 6 kg ~

ACCELERATION
Lani wants to see how fast her bike can go.
after 1 minute from rest she moves 6 m/s.
her acceleration after 1 minute
a = v / t
a = 6 / 60
~ _a = 0.1 m/s ~

SPEED
Ann wanted to see how fast she
can bike to Lani. She moves
towards Lani at a speed of 2 m/s.
If she is 12 meters away from Lani, how long will it take her
v = d / t
2 = 12 / t
2t = 12
~ t = 6 seconds ~

VECTOR ADDITION

the family biked in a path of
1610m N , 1600m W , 1620m S, and 1560m E
the family's total displacement
1600 - 1540
40
1620 - 1610
10
V = √(40² + 10²)
V = √1700
~ displacement = 41.23 ~

NEWTON'S LAWS
1st law
Ann let go of the pedals and went down a hill at 2 m/s.
suddenly she forces the bike to stop. If the hill
was endless, and she did not stop,
she would continue her state of motion.
2nd law
If Ann's mass and the mass of the
bike added up is 56 kg, and she
accelerates at 1.1 m/s², what is the force
F = ma
F = (56)(1.1)
~ F = 61.6 N ~
3rd law
Lani ran over a rock and her bike got
a flat tire. she had to push her bike
~ action: Lani pushes her hands against the bike ~
~ reaction: the bike pushes up against her hands~

UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION
the family decides to set up a picnic
Lani who is 55 kg and Ann who is 50 kg
sit 1.5 meters apart from each other
their force of gravitational attraction
Fɢ = 6.67 x 10-¹¹ (m₁ x m₂) / (r²)
Fɢ = 6.67 x 10-¹¹ (55 x 50) / (1.5²)
~ Fɢ = 0.000000007 N ~
